Stuart is our specialist in crisis prevention and intervention strategies for Aboriginal communities. He is a curriculum and training expert for the RCMP in critical incident stress management and is a certified instructor through ‘Living Works’ ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Trainer).
Stuart is a member of the Indian Brook First Nation. He is our cultural content expert on a number of Aboriginal mental health projects geared to supporting the resiliency of front-line workers in dealing with the responsibility of their community roles.
Working in collaboration with elders, Aboriginal organizations, health authorities, Health Canada and Dalhousie University’s Sun Life Chair in Adolescent Mental Health, Stuart is helping to customize a mental health intervenor model for First Nation communities.
A component of this program, known as ‘Touchstones’, has been tailored to address the impacts of the Indian Residential Schools disclosure process.
